The town’s deep-seated festive traditions have made festivals one of the hallmarks of Benicarló. Its mild climate makes Benicarló a venue for festive events all year round, and public participation is the common denominator of all its festivities.
The town’s social and cultural associations organize a wide variety of activities for these festivals which both residents and visitors alike join in with great enthusiasm.
The Patron Saint festivals and the Fallas are the most representative and spectacular celebrations. Another key date on the calendar is the festival based on the Artichoke and its cuisine, which takes place every year at the end of January.
Meanwhile, around 17th January, there is the most traditional festival, Sant Antoni (St. Anthony), along with the well-established Agricultural Fair and the parade featuring the typical lloes (poems) and the throwing of coques (cookies).
