The best cuisine

Benicarló's most outstanding typical products and dishes come from the sea: «caixetes», razor shells, anglerfish, red mullet, sea bass, «lluç», lobster, Norway lobster and tasty prawns.

Produce from the land includes traditional tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, beans, lettuce, and ARTICHOKES (the latter have received the denomination of origin in recognition of their excellent quality and unique features).

Oranges and lemons complete the enormous range of products available in our city, which can all be sampled in recognised restaurants.

Our cuisine is based on what we refer to today as MEDITERRANEAN CUISINE. The variety and quality of the produce makes it possible to enjoy dishes such as «suquet de peix», «olla barretjada», shellfish «paella», vegetable «paella», black rice, «arroz a banda», fried fish dishes, in addition to magnificent Mediterranean salads.

The confectionery typical of Benicarló is very varied, but we can single out the «coc ràpid», «carquinyolis», «pastissets», «rotllets de anís», «coques de Sant Antoni and Sant Blai»... etc.
